//A silent one in Brum yesterday. I bet the shop owners in the Bullring were well chuffed. //

there was more of a point to a demo of this nature in birmingham, tony, allied as it was to the death in custody of kingsley burrell in 2011. the demonstrators in this case, though, have conducted themselves with dignity.
Everyone has the right ..... but taking advantage of that right isn't always necessarily..... right.
It shouldn't matter that some of us have darker skin . . . but unfortunately it does.
Which is why (almost) everyone likes to get a tan.

/// did you post your outrage when taxi-drivers brought London traffic to a halt earlier this year? ///

I was weary of mentioning 'black' cab drivers.

It has nothing to do with skin colour, but everything to do with the persons inside those skins.

So as it has nothing to do with skin colour, you equally condemn the taxi drivers who brought London to a standstill last year?

I presume the taxi drivers were rightly protesting over something which effected them personally in this country and not over something that only effected the yellow cab drivers in New York City?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, you said earlier, "Isn't it also the police's job to make sure that our streets and roads are clear for the public to freely and safely travel on their way?" Why no complaints from you when the taxi drivers blocked the roads and prevented the public from travelling freely and safely on their way?

Simply because no one to my knowledge entered a thread regarding the London taxi drivers at that time.
Why did you not start a thread asking the same question as you have in this one?
SP/THECORBYLOON, AOG’s question relates to a protest by people who cannot change the situation in the US, therefore their protest achieved absolutely nothing except disruption and a cost to the British taxpayer, who is also unable to solve the problems in the US. The taxi drivers on the other hand were protesting about something that affects them personally. Daft argument.
The question was not asking about the rights or wrongs of the protest but about the fact that police allowed it to take place, thus causing disruption. The same thing happened with the taxi drivers yet not a peep from ANOTHEOLDGIT at the time and the reason he gives is that no-one posted a thread about it at the time. What a load of old tosh!
