Clutch adjustor keeps breaking on my ford escort 1997????

help please! my clutch adjustor snapped on my ford escort 1997 about 4 months ago. i replaced it then it snapped again. was told that i needed a different one as mine hasn't got the ratchet part. put that on then that snapped 3 weeks later. no idea why? clutch pedal is free its not stiff travels to the floor fine. Asked garage they said they'd have to have a look at it but would charge �50 an hour then theres no garuntee they find anything.thanks you in advance for any suggestions

I think the cause of your grief is the clutch cable sticking as yours is the manual adjuster type have you slackened if off enough

yeah tried that its pretty slack. the pedal does seam a little stiff compared to my mates so i am going to change the pressure plate and the clutch (may as well while its all off) but thanks for the suggestion any others would be very grateful cheers
