I've recently bought a new Samsung tablet, and while I've looked at the above app in Play Store,I've not downloaded it...yet. But I am getting alerts for news stories on it,and when I'm on the home page,if I scroll it from left to right, I get Flipboard. It doesn't appear to look the same as the downloaded app would...so is it some sort of "advertising" for the app....?
It's presence doesn't bother me as I like having access to news...just wondering.

I'm guessing that your tablet is using the Google Now launcher. If so, scrolling to the left to right will show the Google Now page, which aggregates news, adverts, weather and all sorts of other stuff that Google thinks will be of interest to you. The hamburger icon at top left, allows you to customise that page.
"scrolling to the left to right" should, of course ready "scrolling to the left" :-)

Hmm...there is no hamburger icon...but there *is* a flipboard icon.
