... since I've been outed as being in the Emerald Isle ...

I'll make my annual plea for friendly ABers to share a pint with me.

[ Actually (given the draconian drink/drive laws over here) the thread should be titled "Buy an Audi Driver a Lime and Soda" - but that doesn't have the same ring to it ]

Anyhoo - if you are anywhere near Westport, Kerry or the Wicklow Mountains and in a convivial mood, just email me at [email protected] and we can arrange to meet and assassinate the characters of any other ABers who are not within earshot ..

Are the drink drive laws that tough then, Dave.
The last paragraph demonstrates why I would never, ever want to meet up with anyone from AB. I hope you have a good evening though

Tony - they are very strictly applied - unless you have the requisite relatives in the Gardai (allegedly) ...

237sj - it's all just harmless craic, with tongue firmly in cheek.. you'd love us if you met us ... :)
Yes, I probably would SD
All will be sorted in time for your visit, Tony.....for a price.... ;-)
There's a plain Brown envelope in the post, gness.
Thank you...all will be fine now......and poteen...how many bottles?..x
Have you noticed in your travels through Ireland a fada on some of the words.. Sláinte and Gardaí, it's zero tolerance relation to a member of the Gardaí or not for a reason, we need to cut down on road fatalities due to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
About a dozen cases, gness.
we need to cut down on road fatalities due to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Is it that bad, eanceoil ?.
Not that we have the draconian drink drive laws in place - stats show less deaths on our roads, there are the few chancers

Eanceoil - I can't do accents on the IPad - but I do know they are important and would normally make the effort.

My comments about drink/driving were flippant - the culture over here in Ireland does seem to be changing (albeit slowly in the Wild West) - and a good thing too.

Dx
I know you are in fun mood Sunny dave, and I was going to say, I'd buy you a drink if you were in midlands
Ean....I have noticed a difference......maybe it's not all over.....but what I have seen so far on this trip is a much more responsible attitude to drink driving....

And isn't Ireland clean!...Lord....it's a treat to drive across this country....bliss...sheer bliss....x
There is a huge difference gness - I was called away there, you're probably hob nobbing it in the residents lounge, are ye doing the Siege of Ennis yet?have a great night and remember it's never late until twelve, then it's getting early ;} The Tidy Towns initiative is brilliant, sponsored by one of the large food stores - not the German ones
The Tidy Towns is great, Ean......and the way everyone takes responsibility..it's lovely to see...
I am having a bit of a quiet night......Westport Quay has been wonderfully busy for the last few days......didn't go to the Hooley in the House...but could hear it from here....and I walked lots today. Just stunning scenery and birds...with only the odd little shower.....
Will walk into Westport town tomorrow...along the old railway......and maybe a pint of G in Matt's place....x
sounds good to me - enjoy your stay
