Last night, SoccerAid and a bunch of celebs living out their schoolboy fantasies, 'For the kids'.

Tonight, Beckhams party and loads of self indulgence 'for the kids', culminating in an obscene auction where Becks sold the watch off his own wrist to a fellow England player for a ludicrous sum.

Of course, lots of video inserts of celebs in Africa for the weekend telling us how rotten and injust everything is and just a few quid will save this baby etc.

Dont you think to yourself, OK mate if you really cared that much ,why dont you give 5 million from your pocket money, like anonimously, or is that too straight forward?

I watched some of the Beckham party programme tonight, it was obscene, how much was spent on that party, the flowers, food, staff, security, etc and then they all waltz out in their designer outfits.

I agree with you frankief, why not just give the money straight to the charities. But then again, if they did that, they would get no publicity. Would they.

Hey, don't be too hard on the guy - he is married to that skinny minger after all, so life isn't perfect.
How much did it all cost? i can see that it gave work to lots of people but it did seem obscene. I also hated the way people kow-towed to her - that dress was awful - do you think the designer was putting one over on her, to see how ridiculous he could make her look?

When I was watching it (yes, I know I didnt have to!) but the whole thing of it, the mirror dance floor, the separate menus (no carbs one!) the way that **** Robbie Williams arrived via helicopter. The whole complete waste of money.

There are people in this country who cannot afford basics, having to watch every penny, and to have this repulsive show of "celebs" in their designer outfits, with the smugness of them "doing it for charity" makes me want to throw up.

We donate out of the kindness of our hearts celebs 'donate' and get something out of it,,,is that the same thing???

Pete Docherty has parties where unconscious partygoers get injected with heroin. Then ya got the parties thrown by the likes of Barrymore and Glitter.

Now the Beckhams throw a party where the celebs turn out in force, its all on telly when theres nothin but Big Bro on, and hundreds of thousands got raised for charity, yet people are coming on here to slate the Beckhams?? Get a Grip-Ya banging on about how much it cost-what does that matter? did u pay for it? Did the taxpayer pay? No. The Beckhams earned the money that paid for it, loads of cash got raised for charity, so Whats the problem? Yes, its tragic that there are millions who cannot afford the basics, but surely a televised big-money auction is a good way to make some money for those millions, while also generating good publicity for the captain of a team just about to play in a World Cup?

An whats wrong with self indulgence when youve worked hard to get to the peak of your field, and have earned a fortune in doing so? Would you guys not indulge yourselves in their position? And name a more worthwhile way to for them to indulge? Wayne Rooney spent 150 grand to be PDiddys sidekick(!). He coulda spent it on gambling or hookers but it went to a good cause instead. Yet this is still somehow wrong? Looks like in your eyes these people can do no right with the money they have earned. Sounds like jealousy to me.

We have many people in the public eye doing nothing for good causes, and many squandering fortunes on booze and drug-fuelled parties, day in day out, so why have a go at this one? Like it or not, it made money for charity which wouldnt have been donated had they not thrown the party.

What a lot of mean spirited people you are! It wasn't so much of a party but a charity event. Those very wealthy people gave far more money for things such as cars that they would have paid less for in the shops. Also I think you are forgetting it was going to David and Victorias charity which pays for things like wheelchairs, toys etc., for the underprivileged people in this country.

So stop moaning and put your hand in your own pocket.

well said northy1111 and Holiday lover I totally agree and you have saved me writing reams meself!
How anyone can say that the Beckhams 'earn' their money is beyond me!
i agree with the original question - why can't they just donate the money directly from their own pocket. Robbie and becks could just donate 5 mil each and then no need for ridiculous parties etc.
Yes but if they did that it, you'd have to find something else to winge about now wouldn't you.....
Their Ego's are bigger than their Wallets...............
How do you know that they don`t donate anonimously?? A LOT of celebraties do. Big deal that the party cost the Beckhams 500,000. It`s their money & they have a right to spend it as they want. No one tells you what to do with your money. The players in the soccer aid gave up a week of their time for the charity & paid their own travel costs. Some of the celebraties could have earned a lot of money during this time. The match raised a lot of money, gave pleasure to the 72,000 that were there also all the tv viewers who watched it.

I think you're right beejay, what would we do without the celebs, I suppose they are putting an end to world poverty and famine.

Just seen another tonight 'Celebrity X Factor' these things keep coming thick and fast and the celebs life is obviously one of constant toil and sacrifice.

James Hewitt and Rebecca Loos were there, famous for shagging famous people rather than being true celebs.

'We've had a great time' he said after being given the thumbs down by the panel ' we are here for charity anyway...err...Children In Need !!'

'Doing it for the kids', eh? Of course they are!

I want to amend a comment I made re celebs giving their time to socceraid for nothing. Maradona charged 100,000 to appear.
