Display Driver Failing

At least once a day on my work laptop the screen goes black, although you can still see the cursor. It will last for maybe 10 seconds before all the images re-appear and I get a little pop up in the corner saying the display driver stopped responding and recovered itself. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do to fix it? It's a Dell Lattitude E5500.

Got to the Dell website and see if they have any driver updates for the laptop. It could just be a graphics driver failure.
makes a nice change for someone to actually post some details of the computer they are asking about!

Drivers are here.

Black screen is a common issue. In most cases, it is caused by display driver. You'd better to update the display driver. Download the driver from Dell and install it manually. Or use a third party driver update tool like Driver Talent http://goo.gl/iYYQfb to update automatically.
