done a bit of digging, I think it could be wild garlic mustard plants, or something from the same family.

Hi Ratter, my first thought was that it's a baby lavatera, but not sure - has it ever grown there before? (last year?)
Question Author
"has it ever grown there before? (last year?)"

No idea, I wasnt living here then.
oh, sorry, just looked at the 2nd pic, definitely not Lavatera as it looks to be ground covering...

Certainly looks like peas is right
I pull it up as a weed but others might be more forgiving as its actually a herb. Leave it only if you can use it, otherwise get rid of it now before it spreads. I call it Garlic Mustard

Question Author
It could be as Peas has said, "wild garlic mustard" how would I be able to tell, taste, smell?
Thank you, Prudie I can see them now and I'm quite sure the plants are 'jack by the hedge' aka garlic mustard.
The leaves will smell oniony when crushed.
Question Author
Yes I just crushed a few leaves and it does have a faint onion smell.

So its an edible herb, that makes it worth keeping.
Yes, it dose have culinary use and it don't seem to stray far from the hedge, as its not any bother to me, I consider it a native wild flower...so enjoy.
Question Author
I also can live quite happily with it and will be happy to leave it where it is.

Thanks all!
In my haste, I forgot to mention that it has white flowers on top usually in may.
You may well be looking for a way now to get rid of the onion smell from your fingers :-0 lemon juice should do the trick.
Glad you found the answer Ratter, and maybe you could use it in soup?
Thanks for BA and have a lovely day
