boxing day is so called because in the days when the gentry had servants the left overs from their christmas day feast was boxed and given to the servants.
Just Because it is!!
Yes the same as the first answer and also, in churches durind the 18th 19th and early 20th centuries, churches collected money over christma, and put it in boxes, after christmas day they would give the money to the poor and homeless.
