Can anyone tell me how I can avoid nicotine staining on my fingers when I smoke roll-ups? I don't have the problem with regular cigs, so why is this? I want to switch to roll-ups to economise and cut down, but as a receptionist I can't have yellow fingers. Thanks for any suggestions

If it's doing this to your fingers, just think what it's doing to your lungs.   I know you don't want to be reminded about this but nicotine really does cause lung cancer. What's the point of economising on cigarettes if it costs you your life?  Better to spend your money on nicotine patches and try to kick the habit altogether.
dont mean to state the obvious but the best way to avoid the stains is to quit smoking
Quitting would be my answer too, but I know it isn't as easy as that.  However the stains do disappear very quickly when you stop.  I don't know that there's much you can do for nicotine stains.  My mum suggests trying milk because you'd really be surprised at what it can take of.  Dabbing a cotton ball soaked in milk will get rid of stains on skin from hair dye, so that might be worth a try.  Ironically cigarette ash is supposed to be good for removing stains on skin.  If you already smoke you might not mind the smell so much.
I think it's down to the filters. Ciggies have big fat filters on them which gets rid of the staining substance (have a look at how yellow they go!). Roll ups are either 'roachless' or have a tiny filter which doesn't quite cut the mustard.
A lemon works for me Pollyfrance. Just cut it in half and rub it onto the stains.
It also depends how you hold em between drags, best to give up though,or next best use filters, or next best chop ya fingers off then you wont be able to smoke!!
I go along with all the answers about giving up, as an ex smoker, (roll ups), a Pummice stone is the thing you want, but hard as it is, try giving up, and if you do, Good Luck.

I smoke roll-ups with a filter and still get yellow fingers. Having the odd one in 'fag-breaks' at work doesn't yellow them, but after, say, a night in the pub when I smoke more, then, yes, I get nicotine stains.

I find giving the kitchen a good clean using bleach, caustic soda, and Mr. Muscle usually helps. Result - sparkling hob and surfaces and clean fingers !!

Failing that, my missus says she used to use toothpaste.

I think being more careful about how you hold it helps too.

Just bite the bullet and give up.

I used to smoke the rollies and my fingers were a disgrace.I used to use Jif and scrub at my fingers.

I gave up and thank the Lord my lungs are now recovering from what one fag could do to my fingers depending on the way I held it.

Every night when I am in the shower I give my fingers a quick rub with a pumice stone and it keeps the stains from building up.
Easy to do
What follows is not a joke or send up:
1.stick the nicotine finger in neck of bottle of neat household bleach (ENSURE NO CUTS ON SKIN)
2. invert bottle so finger is immersed in bleach (MAKING SURE NONE LEAKS ON TO YOUR CLOTHES)
3. leave finger in bottle for - say - 30 seconds
4. remove finger, rinse and dry
Nicotine should now be gone
I FEEL GUILTY ABOUT POSTING THIS - I QUIT SMOKING YEARS AGO. BUT IT WORKS
good old sand paper works a treat for me, or a schole pedicure foot thingyredo.
