DVD player affects VIDEO signal

Bought a DVD player for christmas - works great but there is interference on the picture when i play a video (the video is fine if i unplug the SCART lead from the TV) - is this normal and is there any way round it?

If the TV has 2 Scart sockets put the DVD to it direct and not via the video. There is a useful site here that shows correct cabling for all combinations of equipment.Also invest in a high quality scart lead for the DVD. http://www.cinemaxcables.net/cinemax.pdf

The TV has 1 scart and the DVD goes directly into the TV (the video is via coax). I'm not convinced about the cable quality theory but thanks for the link i will use the info there.
