why does Google have Sherlock Holmes in its logo today

I know that Google often puts an image within its logo when something of import is happening or had happened on that date (ie during the winter olympics we had bob sleighers etc) Does anyone know why Sherlock Holmes is on todays logo??

In a pickle is correct letters are still sent to Baker street, and theres a Museum in Meiringen Switzland which displays some of the letters, Its a recreation of the rooms in Baker Street, I stayed at the Hotel next to the Museum this is where the author Stayed and wrote the last Sherlock holmes story the water fall is a short walk but was frozen when I was there in February.
