Claiming on price protection

Has anyone been able to successfully claim the difference between the full price of an item and the sale price using "price protection" on their Debenhams credit card?

Is there a database which lists all items which have been entered into a sale, so you can just give them the code numbers on your receipt over the phone and they will tell you whether the item has been discounted? A sales assistant in Debenhams told me about this database and told me to phone the number on the policy statement, but they know nothing about it.

What is the correct procedure for claiming? I've looked on the Debenhams website, but it isn't particularly clear.
Thank you!

go into the shop with your reciept for the item, ask the assistant to do a price check on the till, if the price is reduced permanently the till will show the reduction, if it is within 100 days of the date of purchase on the recipet, the asistant has to fill in an A4 claim form ( which they should have at the till pont) then and there and get a manager to authorise it, then you fill the form in and post it off the GE capital. they will refund any difference to your account without any excess involved.

P.S. i work in debs, sorry i didn't mention that

Thanks Dot. That is really useful to know, but I am a little bit frustrated.

A few weeks ago, just before the 100 days ran out, I went into Debenhams, looked around the store for the items I had previously bought and were now on sale and took them to the till point. I asked if I could get a refund. That's when I was told that I'd have to phone the number on the back of the policy document and that in future I wouldn't need to go into store as there is a database which holds the prices of all items so I could just read them off over the phone. I thanked the staff and left, without having taken any notice of the sale price of the items I had taken to the till point.

Now, after much phoning around (and not being able to locate this database!) I have been sent a claim form - probably the one that you mention that should be kept by the tills - but this means I have to fill in both the original price of the item (easy because I have the receipt) and the sale price (not so easy because I can't remember how much the items were). Now it's beyond the 100 days, so it's too late to claim now anyway. I'm pretty annoyed with the staff in the store I went into for not doing what you say they should have done below.

The staff in the store should fill the price part of the form in not you, that isn't the way the form works in store, maybe there is one that GE Capital send customers but then that has to be signed by a manager in store too. No, in future ask the staff to do the price check on the till, you don't need to look for the items cos the barcode on the reciept for each item is enough. you can also contact the Debenhams Customer Service Centre and explain what hapened 08445 616161.

Thanks Dot. You have been really helpful. I'll call the Customer Service line and see what they say.
