Mott hailed from Hereford, and as Bowie had written their breakthrough hit, Midlands Today interviewed Verden Allen last week. The first thing he said at interview was when he got the BBCs call, he'd expected it to be about Buffin as he'd been ill for some time, that it was Bowie took him by surprise. Now he's lost 2 friends in the space of a week.

I too saw Mott in the 1970s, when they were headliners to Queen's support act.....
