What date is 12th Night? I've always worked it out to be 5 January, taking Christmas Day as the 1st night, but some others say it's 6 January. Thanks!

Googling assured me that 12th Night is Epiphany (6th January). The First Day of Christmas is the day following Christmas Day, because Christmas Day was a religious occasion, not for merrymaking. That came after. So all the decorations have to be taken down tonight, and the Christmas season is over.

Thanks for that Jaybee! I'll no longer panic to get the decorations down by the 5th!
....or you could leave them up flirty and start all over again, as I'm sure I've seen somewhere that way back in time Christmas Day actually began on Twelth Night sooo Happy Christmas !!!!
Happy Christmas indeed-at least for the Eastern Orthodox church. Old Christmas Day is the 6th January, Old Twelth Night is the 18th January.

No, Cetti! I definitely couldn't contemplate starting again! I'm only just recovering now - and I don't mean from a hangover!!! firefly - thank you for your contribution too. I think I'll just stick to the one Christmas thanks - that's more than enough!!
