Sandy, have you been back to Fibbers or do you just have a glass of red at home (apparently very good for you, this week anyway)

Psybbo, I haven't been in a bar for years. I've stopped drinking at home because I was knocking a bottle back in about 20 minutes.
A drink or two, to relax you, doesn't really work for me.
Have you knocked this drinking lark on the head then, sandy ?.
Question Author
I'm not drinking just now. There's too much stress in my life and I know I might let the booze spur me to do something I'd regret.
But I've started smoking again, about 40 a day.
Oh dear, sandy. you seem to have substituted one for another. Do you think you could pack it up again ?.
Men and women have been drinking alcohol in various amounts for hundreds of years before people suddenly discovered statistics and realised that EVERYTHING is bad for us
Yep statistics, paddywak. They'll be the death of us ;-)
Too true tony, I was always told a little bit of everything in moderation.
They'd be at serious risk of thinking that they were teetotal.
So do I, paddywak.
My dad was a drinker (never at home though) and he died of liver cancer aged 59. He also had Cirrhosis but it was the cancer that killed him.

I know much heavier drinkers that are still going strong.

Pot luck I reckon...
it's getting to the point where a sniff of a barmaid's apron is going to put you at serious risk of damaging your health

It would if her partner caught you at it. :-)
