I was packing my shopping prior to escaping from the shop just now and the 'woman inside the machine' kept saying, ' Don't forget your change. Cash is dispensed below the scanner ' Blumming stupid woman' I was thinking ' I paid with a card'
I could stand it no more, so looked down to see had someone else left money in the change chute,,,,,,,,,,and there was the £50 cash-back I'd just asked for.

sign of the times when fifty quid is described as change
It's important to get 'old of your cash-back.
Cash point machines draw the cash back in if it is not removed within a set time . It does not actually 'drop out' you have to pull it out.
A week or so back my newspaper wouldnt scan and the woman attendant keyed the code in for me. I'd already packed the shopping and walked away without paying.
I'd nearly reached the door before the next customer at the till noticed and told her and she came after me.
If I'd got outside it might have security that collared me as a shoplifter.
Easily done, Sandy.
I am amazed that Cash machines are able to count brand new Notes without them sticking together.

@viv41....I could produce documentary evidence that The Good Soldier Švejk has been with us since the first world war. (1914/1918)

Re the voice in lifts mentioned earlier - very useful for the blind/partially sighted.

I do wish they'd pick better voices for some automated systems though , some do grate.
