Sorry if this is not the right site for my question but none of the others were anywhere near relevant. I have a little Lesney Commer Milk Float No 21. The wheels feel like metal to me - they are very hard, but apparently they were only made with plastic wheels. What sort of plastic was it, and how can I tell if they are plastic or metal?

I believe that the plastic used was Bakelite

and as you say the Commer Milk Float No.21C (first issued 1961) was only ever produced with plastic wheels, although in three colours; silver, grey & black.
