A little good news at last, except for the fact that this woman should not have received a penny more, except of course for the provision of the couples children.

i actually feel a bit sorry for her. really her biggest mistake was buying a house without a survey - something i'm sure many people have done, especially if you have not had sole control of buying a house before. usually the mortgage company will guide you through the process, but in this case there was no mortgage company of course. Perhaps she saw a need, saw what she thought was a solution and just had an "aha!" moment. If the bungalow had been suitable for conversion, this wouldn't even be in the news

She had enough offers of support, she just chose to ignore them.

Do you also agree that she should have gone to court to try and get even more of the money this poor chap had left out of his compensation?
AOG - without knowing all the circumstances, it is perfectly possible to agree with bednobs' assessment - it is far too easy to perceive and condemn what may have been naiive behaviour, as being manipulative and callous.

Similarly, with regard to this woman trying to obtain more settlement money - we do not know the circumstances, and it is easy to indulge in a knee-jerk response that she is trying to deprive her ex-husband of his compensation because she is indifferent to his altered personality.
