Anonymous International Calls On My Mobile

On three occasions in the last two months, I have answered my ringing mobile and there has has been no one on the line. It doesn't read 'missed call' and there is nothing showing in my call register. When I phone 1471 (as by now I'm beginning to think I was hearing things) it tells me that Its an international call and the caller has witheld their number. As I don't know anyone abroad and I get very few calls to my mobile anyway (I'm an oldie!) Does anyone know whats happened here please?

It will probably be some dodgy call centre abroad trying to sell you something! I get these on my house phone, it's very annoying
