Just a quick thanks to all those that posted an answer to my grounded post. I feel much better and lifted the grounding today! But I will ensure she is where she says she is and for the time being, am prepared to be the ogre mother rather than the friendly mum! Cheers one and all x

Fingers crossed for you Poglet- good luck :-)
Well done - as a mother of a 17 yr old it can be hard work, and doesnt always go to plan, but sounds like you're doing a great job!
Now if we could just make all the other teenagers behave, including mine, our mission would be complete!. Glad it worked out. love Sense.

Wouldn't say it has worked out sense, she didnt speak to me from friday so today I have decided I dont really want to speak to her. She will need me before I need her!!! Its soooo hard being the mother of a teenage girl in this day and age is it not ladies? Cant do right for doing wrong and as you say, they just think you are trying to stop them having a life rather than ensuring they have a long, healthy one! Its enough to make you reach for the seroxat (oh yeah, already on that!!!) :)

I know exactly where you are coming from. My son ( 15 ) was attending a metal punk concert in London, I was glad when I talked to him when he was on the train home ( to another friends house ). He thinks I am a harrbinger of doom and that nothing will happen to him.

I have developed as a parent, it used to bother me if they stopped talking - now I just enjoy the peace! My seventeen year old daughter says what really upsets her, is knowing that I am make a valid point! lol.

My eldest lived with my mum for a few years as a teenager, and she used to 'punish' him by not talking to him. It's something I took up and believe me, it works. I think it's to do with all that 'being cast out from the protective fold' business that Monty Roberts used with his horses.

I also used to lead by example. If I was going to be late home for any reason, or not where I'd said I was going to be, I would always call them and let them know. They worry too, you know.
