Will the likes of Lord Rose, the former executive chairman of Marks and Spencer, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and John Major, be enough to convince you to vote for Britain to stay in the EU?

Don't be so smug. There are Labour politicians in both camps. The only parties which present a united front on this issue are UKIP and the Libs.
//But we won't be able to change anything staying in...We won't exist as a nation state !
Do you not grasp that ?// Posted by baz.
In 20 years Britain has opposed 72 Euro. Council measures all have carried.
Our MEPs have been defeated in 84% of attempts to counter motions considered to be against our interest. We have not had much influence there then. Out. Then we will be heard. Brussels and its acolytes are gangsters and frauds. Out Out Out! Scotland stays in. That's our referendum on devolution sorted at the same stroke.
Out, and if they vote like they talk most of my friends are outers as well.
The only reason the Scots are keen to stay in is that if they gain independence they will be in the same situation as the impoverished member states of Eastern Europe and will thus be net beneficiaries, unlike the UK which is a net contributor.

If the vote to leave Europe goes through SP, you could of course always move to Europe!
Were we that strong in the EU we wouldn't be so discontent. Had we been able to lead we would have already been doing so; but we can lead the way out. It is no retreat, it is a correction. I believe it is fear of leading one's own way that encourages some to want to stay secure and told what to do by an undemocratic EU. We need our politicians to show some gumption and return the reigns to ourselves.
I agree with OG. We were taken in without our consent. We were lied to on a monumental scale to secure our agreement to stay in. All we will be doing is correcting the errors of 45 years ago and consigning those politicians who at the time were responsible to the dustbin of history.
"We were lied to on a monumental scale to secure our agreement to stay in."

can you imagine if theyd told the truth...

you will cease to exist as nation soveriegn state
you will be absorbed into the eussr empire/superstate republic/united states of (take your pick any or all)
you will lose the pound
everything you do will be governed from brussells etc etc
your laws your taxes, military, police etc etc etc
you will have no control of your borders

you will become a mere province in the north west of europe....err hold on that sounds familiar ! deja vu anybody !?
To protect the security and health of the country, I will vote out.
If the posts on this thread are a snapshot of public opinion, Cammy's lost already. It would be better for him to get on the winning side.
substitute uk for american

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

thats why theyve called in the heavyweights to try and sell staying in to Joe Shmo....where most of the votes will likely come from
If they are the heavyweights I shudder to think who the lightweights must be.
Out, out, out! None of the 'In' canvassers speak the whole truth about our being eventually subsumed and probably losing our entire culture. The comparison with the USA is specious - they were not well-established nation states which joined together.
I am pro-Europe - but very firmly anti the E.U.. We will drive new trade deals and relations, no problem. sp will still (in the higher echelons in which he exists) be able to flit between European destinations - he'll just have to show his passport and I'm not going to give up my passion for this country's existence for his convenience anyway.
I am worried that the younger generation will be frightened of what is to them 'unknown' - that needs to be the thrust of the argument i.e. that it is not unknown.
It matters not what the likes of Rose, Mandelson Branson, Blair ( is Blair an acronym for B LIAR remember the WMD) I and a straw poll I carried in the gym this morning of nine people, eight of the nine said OUT OUT OUT .
Doesn't surprise me. In fact if you'd said all nine said OUT I'd be equally unsurprised but then, there's always one...

I think that Blair and his cronies are in for a very nasty shock. Bring it on!
