Has this ever happened? Seeing that the conditions would not be right for a tornado to be born has this ever occurred as a result of freak conditions?

Thanks for your help rowanwitch, I uncovered this and what a crazy phenomenon, but what I'm asking ( I should've been more informative in my original question) is whether there has ever been reports of a category f5 Supercell during a winter storm?

I doubt it.....don't think you would get big enough storm systems...
Question Author
But it could occur under freak conditions no?
one of those things that might be possible theoretically but as far as I can find out snow tornadoes are more of the low grade 'snowdevil' type Do you want it to be possible to go in a book as part of the storyline...if so you might be better to look at hail instead of snow
Question Author
No just curious. Did you know that there's an F6 on the scale? One of these monsters have never been recorded and has "Inconceivable tornado" and "Total destruction" written after it. I wonder just how many stormchasers would like to be in the same vicinity as this badboy.
Question Author
Actually probably many as they are a brave/nutty lot.
Theoretically I believe the scale goes to F11 but that would probably be used to describe tornadoes that would occur on other planets ....Gas Giant types can have extreme weather conditions
