Is it actually going to be a hot summer this year because knowing weather forecasts, they get things wrong (if they can't forecast a week ahead then how can they predict months ahead in accuracy?).

What do you think the weather will be like? Ooh and not forgetting temperatures!

Japonica in bloom - preparing for early fruits?
Well they say the colder the winter the hotter the summer so let's hope thats true. !
Was this winter colder than usual then?
To be honest the weather people have not got a clue.

met office yesterday said that for my postcode yesterday there would be heavy snow showers.

In fact it was brilliant sunshine.

Probably be the same as last year
well we had snow so it must have been cold lol
We have snow most years...!!
Ummmm

heaviest snowfall in 18 years

Unfortunately we don't have snow most years - well sometimes but not as much as we had it this year.

I hope we get a hot summer - in the early to mid 20s, one or two spells in the 30s. And not forgetting that sun! But I love thunderstorms so a few of those would be admirable.

Well I suppose we'll all have to wait and see.
Not where I am. 3 years ago we had the worst snow storm. It started snowing at 3.20. I know this because I'd just got my son from school. By 3.30 we couldn't drive.
The weather "experts" have said wel have a scortching hot summer for a few years now - did i miss it ? we get a week at random at most each year

And where do you live exactly? Scotland? Shetland Isles?
Question Author
And yeah we haven;t had a scorcher for a while, which is not good :(
just rain
The trouble with hot summers means bad news for us arachnaphobics.Warm humid evenings means discovering huge spiders on bedroom walls, bathrooms and scuttling across carpets.I'm sure they are getting bigger.
Regards

Well I do hope that you find none scuttling in your house - eradication hopefully being unneeded (not that I do such a thing).

Animals evolving is fearful I know and I hope the spiders stay away from you. :)
Many thanks for your concern lov3shy.
I suppose it could be worse, like living in Australia,at least we dont have to check for Funnel web spiders in the outside dunny eh?
Regards
Hardly got any snow where i live, never do. x
I don't expect my answer has any more statistical validity than any of the others, but in recent decades most of the years ending in a 9 have produced reasonably warm, dry summers in England. 1949, 1959, 1969 and 1989 were all like this and the others not too bad (with exception, perhaps, of 1979 which was really only average).
Keep fingers crossed (but watch out for the inevitable hosepipe ban...)
