All answers are place names within the British isles and contain the name of a bird.
Those I've completed so far, the place names are not particularly well known. Doesn't help much not knowing how many letters in each answer

1. Small paint holder, urban area

2. Odd or eccentric person, amateur radio presenter

3. Former comic, could be dance locations, change lead

4. Frozen food specialist, barrier across a gap

Any help gratefully received and thankyou to those who answered earlier

To anyone that may be struggling with this one, think of different birds then look for place names that fit with the clues. If that helps. Hope I haven't made this toooooooo difficult. Will consider puting amount of letters for answers on next quiz. Good luck to all and thank you for your contributions.
I'm finding this quiz really difficult especially as some of the places are certainly not well known. I'm afraid i can't help you but I'm still trying. It would have helped a wee bit if the number of letters had been given, as you say. Still I enjoy a challenge and I can't get out so will spend some time on this quiz.
2 Cootham
2. <something>ham.
4. <something>gate.

Thank you emeritus. Some of the answers I've got aren't even in the AA road atlas. I figure something out then google it Was just getting round to checking case, cure and coot.

thanks to all. Glad I'm not the only one who is finding it difficult
3. The former comic is the "eagle", dance location think of a farm, lead is an anagram.
Thank you Harrowden. Eaglebarnsdale. That's another one off the list. I was thinking of a comedian! Would never have thought of the Eagle comic Another one not in the AA road Atlas.
I'm on a roll now. I've dispensed with the atlas and using a website which is really helpful

I was just about to apologise to seadogg, but when I recheked my quiz sheet, the question actually does say 'operator' and not 'presenter' as katmarrow has stated on question 2.
Some answers may not be commonly known but all but one has been taken off a website, the one that isn't shown, is indexed and shown on my map. I had to produce the questions around the birds and this is why some places are not necessarily well known unless you happen to live around these places.
There is plenty of time to complete this and what else can you do with your time with the weather we are encountering!!!
Yes, furrypusscat, I'm finding it easier now that I'm using the website. Can't get out because of very deep snow. Could do some housework I suppose?? As you say we've plenty of time to finish it.
Housework, what's that?

Care to tell us which web site you are using. I wont be sending mine in. I just enjoy doing them, but sometimes we need a little help, especially when you know nowt about birds
katmarrow, sorry, can't cut and paste. Just put "List of United Kingdom locations" in the web search. It really is a great help. Hope I've been of assistance.
