I'm using Vista is it possible to backup my files and folders to an external hard drive. At the moment I can only see a way by transferring them to a DVD .Assuming that this is the only option do I have to use a new Dvd with every update? If I can use an external HD could somebody please guide me through it. Thanks!!

1) Plug the external drive into a USB port and wait for Vista to recognise it and give it a drive letter.

2) Select the files you want to back up, then hit Ctrl-C (copy).

3) Select the external drive and hit Ctrl-V (paste).
