Should Rooney have apologised? He always gives 100%, so I think he was right to have a go at the morons who know nothing at football. I'm with Wayne on this one.
to be honest how does any national side do well? eg most ingerlund players play about more or less 50games a season, so they know each other inside out. internationals, how often do they play together, and with the same players?
OK, so I think England were broccoli last night. IN all my years watching England (and I have travelled far and wide to watch them, when married to a semi pro player who was a die hard England supporter) I have NEVER booed the team. It is sad when the fans boo. OK so they were broccoli, but still, does "booing" help. I think not.
I've rarely seen a worse performance, but still, if the crowd are behind the team it helps.
Like barmaid, I've followed England for years since, before we actually won the World Cup in fact, and I too have never booed them, If I printed what I've thought about them at times the ED would probably ban me for life but I've never booed them
Are the fans not entitled to voice their opinions, then? The vast majority of them in the stadium last night will have paid several thousand pounds each to be there - what other reaction did you expect them to have? Cheer enthusiastically at the garbage that they had paid all that money to see...?
I'm with chig on this ... he will have been told the FA are releasing a statement on his behalf which he would have no involvement in. The FA needs to protect their golden cash cow from being slaughter by the fans and media. They can't afford to drop him because of how badly he's needed if he plays well and they wouldn't have the balls to send him home if it escalated ala Nicolas Anelka.
