My grand-daughter and I are hoping to book tickets for the Imax in Manchester on 8th April. We are staying at the Palace Hotel overnight and on the map it looks quite a way from the shops and a very long way from the Imax. Does anyone know anything about the tram system in Manchester and if so whether we would be able to use it to get to the shops and/or the Imax? We will arrive in Manchester at the Central Coach Station which looks as if it could be within walking distance of the hotel so once booked in I am wondering if it would be best to go shopping/eating and then straight to the Imax from the shopping area rather than going back to the hotel. Can anyone help me as I don't know Manchester at all.

Hi felly,
you're arriving at Chorlton Street bus station? If you walk on to Portland Street from there, any of the 40s will take you on to Oxford road ( not too far from there ) to the Palace Hotel . After you have booked in, if you get any of the 40s back in to Piccadilly plaza, you can walk from there down to the end of Market Street and turn right, you will see the 'Big Wheel' Walk towards this and the 'Imax' is in the 'Printworks' After your film just retrace your steps back to the Piccadilly Plaza & get any of the 40s again back to the Palace Hotel x
Once in Piccadilly just ask anyone where Market Street is x

Sorry that hasn't worked! Give me a minute!

Thanks Sachs - just wish I'd asked instead of trawling the internet for information. Yes we are arriving at the Chorlton Street bus station - do you think it's too far to walk to the hotel from there? When you say any of the 40's I assume you mean any bus numbered 40 to 49?

Yes felly, if you come out of Chorlton street bus station on to Portland street and turn left and go to the first available bus stop ask the driver if he's going on to Oxford road, most of them do as it;s a very busy student area! I would say it may be too far for you to walk but not far at all on the bus or by taxi x
Are you from Manchester vibra?
From your Hotel walk up Oxford Road towards Central library (a Round White building) and in front of there is St. Peter's Square Metrolink Station.

make sure you catch the Bury tram. This will first go into Piccadilly Rail Station, and then on to Victoria Rail Station. Get off there or at Shude Hill station, the stop before

From there, the Printworks is a short walk.
I've not really travelled on the tram system so couldn't help you there x
