I'm trying to book a holiday to Western USA (Rushmore, Grand Canyon etc) in mid/late September.  Can anyone tell me what sort of weather to expect?

Having lived in those areas I can say that, generally, September is a very pleasant season.  However, it is also quite changeable. especailly at higher elevations.  The last national holiday of summer is Labor Day... usually the last week of August or first week of September.  The point is that most of the larger crowds are gone for the season, but most amenities are still open.

The weather will be pleasantly warm in the day time, but can be quite cool in the evenings, so be prepared.

Welcome to the west!
