My husband and I want to visit Prague at the end of November. Would you recommend staying central (and paying through the nose for the privelige) - or stay on the cheaper outskirts and use public transport.
Anyone recommend anywhere? Its my 40th birthday so would like somewhere special.

It would be cheeper to stay outside of town, but there is nothing like being in the city center and all of the activity. If you search you may find some reasonable places to stay. It depends on what type of accomodations you are looking for. There is an old jail converted into rooms which is reasonable but the rooms do not have their own bathrooms. There is also a 5th floor walkup hostel around the corner from the main train station that have family rooms and places to store you luggage during the day.
it's always cheaper staying outside any town but then you use up time getting to and fro. I always prefer to stay centrally and pay a bit extra. Prague's a lovely place and the hotels aren't hugely expensive.

Or try lastminute.com or soomeone like that
We always stay at the Hotel Golden Tree (U Zlateho Stromu) which is right in the centre really, a minute away from the Charles Bridge and we love it. It's not the quietest place apparently (but we've never had sleep disturbed, I suppose it depends when you go and November will be as quiet as it gets). It has cheap rooms, expensive suites and plenty in between. And the food is deeeeelicious! Don't be put off by the sexy dance bar in the basement, we didn't even notice it till the second time we stayed there!
I've talked myself into another trip I think!
we stayed on the botel albatross - could not describe it as special but certainly different. Was very basic and clean but about 10 minute walk from the centre. I loved prague - wherever you stay I am sure you will have a wonderful time.
Join couchsurfing.org and stay in any city with a local.
