does anyone know if you have to pay if you are rescued of a mountain by helicopter, and taken to hospital with an injured arm , but do not have insurance for mountain rescue , only normal insurance.

I would say no but the people that go up without the proper clothing, Compass & put other people at risk should be FULLY charged.
Your normal insurance may well not cover you (for the broken arm) if what you were doing up the mountain was a hazardous acticity.

As for the rescue - pass.
you will have to check the details of your insurance as a lot of normal holiday cover wont include mountain sports or activities. The cost for a helli is about �2000 so cover is well worth it.
