We are going to New Zealand to visit our son at the end of the year. He recommended fly Singapore Airlines so thought we would stay to break up the flight. Has anyone done this trip we just wondered how long to stay in singapore as we don't know anything about the place. Thanks.

We love singapore. If you are foodies, then no trip will be long enough! I would say for a first time visit 4 nights would be a good time. Enough to find your feet, explore and get some good eating in!
We have been twice this year, each time for 5 nights, and still felt we wanted to say longer. There are a few people who say Singapore is boring and 2 nights are enough, but they cant have even scratched the surface!

I can highly recommend the Conrad Centenial hotel. If you can run to it, get an executive room with club floor access. You will save yourself a small fortune in drinks bills as you can get alcholoic drinks there all day till 11pm- booze is pricey in Singapore! Afternoon tea and evening cocktail nibbles are also provided, so you can cut back on spend outside the hotel.
If you want more info, post fao me, and i can tell you some things to do and good places for eats!
flew to australia last year and spent three nights in singapore . We got to see a lot and i reckon three nights is about right good luck
I suggest you do a round the world tour to save on the jet lag. Go via the States and come back through Singapore, by travelling westwards all the time the jet lag doesn't catch up with you.
We loved Singapore. Stayed 5 nights as a stopover and found plenty to see and do. A day at Sentosa Island is a must-take the cable car for a birds eye view of the city. Little India and Chinatown are worth a visit as is the Clark Quay area. Orchard road for shopping is great and we stayed at the Phoenix hotel on the Orchard road which I would recommend. In fact I have done so on the 'trip Advisor' website.
You could spend a whole day in Changi airport!
I agree with all the above posters....+ Singapore is so clean.

Have stayed at the Changri-La Hotel....Towers if you can afford it.............best hotels in the world.
Sorry....Shangri-La.
A MUST is Raffles for a Singapore sling & whole peanuts (throw shells on floor - custom).

I don't think Singapore Airlines fly via the USA, though Air New Zealand do. They're both in the Star Alliance, though, so an agent could probably sort out a route involving both.

I once had three days in Singapore and that was enough, unless you really fell in love with the place like kira; it's not all that big.
