Some friends and I want to go camping together but have only ever done this at organised festivals, never off our own back.
What sort of options do we have - looking to camp in the South England, ideally near either London or Brighton? Do we have to pay to use a space or just find a field? We have our own tents.
Any ideas/experience would be great...

Well a proper camp site would be good else where are you going to shower and go to the loo etc.......
There are loads of camping sites in the south coast. I have a caravan in Hayling Island and the camping field next door charge approx 11.00 per night per tent. There is a shower block, cafe, swimming pool and a small shop. there. Its called The Oven, Manor Road. I dont theink the farmer would be happy if you just arrived and made camp in his field!!
Have a lovely time but please remember to be a bit boy-scoutish about it, eg 'leave nothing and your thanks'.....in other words keep the place tidy round your tents - and if you really want to impress folk, don't be noisy at night. You might think you are just chatting late at night but your walls are made of thin fabric!

I'm sure you will be exemplary campers.
