Why am I so confused about my Egyptian tourist visa?

I am flying to Hurghada airport in September but I'm confused about the visa. I am from the UK so how much do I have to pay for a tourist visa & what currency must I pay it in? Also, can you get a visa from the above airport when you land, or do you have to get it before you go?
