I've done 1 Royal Caribbean cruise (on Voyager of the Seas). It's what you make of it. If you want to dress up every night and go to the formal dining rooms that's fine. I prefer a more casual approach most of the time and we tend to slum it and eat in the buffet. Day times are very casual. Do what you want to do, that's what holidays are about!
RCI is a 4* cruise line - it is not snooty - ships are large, beautiful, fantastic art and shows, crew are friendly. Food good and varied. Please research before you go - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/ is the BEST cruise site in the world - click on the link for RCI to read what sort of questions people ask, and go to the Ports section to find out what to do in each port - in Europe. There will be 2 formal nights in a 7n cruise - take a long a suit and a frilly dress and feel glamourous for those evenings.
We'll be going on our 6th RCI cruise next year. There is loads to do on their ships and the entertainment staff will plan loads of events. It is not at all snooty, but if you don't want to go to formal nights, you don't have to. Food is available somewhere 24hrs a day and room service is free. As auntiebertie says, go to cruisecritic where you will get tons of info. You can also sign up for the roll call for your cruise and get to know some of your fellow cruisers before you go. RCI, like most lines, have a loyalty scheme where after so many cruises you get perks, so it is a good idea to try and stick with one line if you can. Any other questions, go to cruisecritic!!

Thanks for replies, they have been very helpful and I am now looking forward to my trip
And keep an eye on the price of your cruise because if it goes down then you call your travelagent and you should get your cruise at the new cheaper price. So it is a win-win situation....RCI are the only line I know that honour price drops.
