if my passport runs out on 10 AUG 2008 and im going to mexico on the 5th june will my passport be ok to travel?

i think mexico, as most countries, would require a passport which is valid for 3 if not 6 months after your return

And the 'most countries' is a bit of an urban myth as well

there are not many at all that require a passport to be valid for 6 months - not even the US does and they have stringent rules

is it not British legislation which states that you rpassport must be valid for 6 month from the date of your RETURN???
If they have an embassy in England I would check with them. I had the same problem with Kenya. My husbands passport had 3 months left and some brochures said you had to have 3 months and others said 6 months. I had to get a visa anyway and asked them direct and they confirmed it was just 3 months.
