I see the above poster is living up to his name.
Adeje is the large administrative area to the north of Playa de las Americas. Originally farmland running down to the coast, a number of complexes have sprung up along the coastline - but it isn't continuous. The northern end of the developed coastline ends in Los Gigantes, a well-established resort where the height of the cliff prevents further development.
We go every year and it is great. It is a lot quieter than Los Americas but has some great bars. Go and find Teguiste villas up a side road near The esmerelda hotel and there is an alley way just a few yards up and the first bar you come to is great, very small but you sit outside but a good atmosphere. Also go across from Esmerelda hotel and left down a slope to the beach and there is The Moonlight bar which you can look acroos to La Gomera. Avoid timeshare touts and anyone else selling on the beach .
Sorry Right down to the Moonlight.(A senior moment there).
I went to Tenerife a few year ago and stayed in Los Cristianos. It is next door to Playas Las Americas and I found I was sick of time share touts. I went up North for a day to Porta da Cruz and we were not bothered once. If I could turn back the clock I would of stayed there.
Very interesting, but Puerto de la Cruz is nowhere near Adeje. Read the question.
