I am looking to go away in November for a week and was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions as to where i can get some winter sunshine? Ive not been abroad before and dont really know where's best so a personal recommendation would go a long way.

ooh sorry i thought i was in travel!!
If good weather is your only criterion, then you have a wide choice, as most of the countries bordering the Mediterranean (eg Southern France, Spain, Italy, Tunisia) should be reasonably sunny in November (though the evenings may be cool). It's hard to make a recommendation unless you narrow your criteria down a bit - for example, are you simply looking for a beach resort, or do you want a little (or a lot of) culture?
Sorry, I meant to add that it's often helpful to look at tour operators' brochures, for factual info and to get ideas, even if you're intending to travel independently.
Tenerife is not a bad start, all year round good weather (esp southern Tenerife) and if first time abroad not too daunting, most people speak english, british food available if your not feeling adventurous, fairly cheap. Only down side not many sandy beaches.
I was going to suggest Tenerife like Jenny Tools! Lovely place to go. If you want a lively part try Playa de las Americas
Cape Town.
i wasn't very impressed with playa de las americas(veronica's!!!!!)- nice for a visit but don't stay there. But away from the fish and chips and british bars of the americas you can find some really beautiful bits of tenerife, not to be missed is this tour they do where you are driven to the top of the mountain given a bike with an adapted massive comfy seat and then you free whell all the way down to the bottom where wine is waiting - sounds boring but lots of fun as you stop along the way to see some bit of the island you wouldn't usually get to. oh yeah and you can go on a quad bike tour around the island thats great too.. ooo and there this boat trip... um i'll stop, i didn't realise i like tenerife this much until i started writing.
