Hey,

I'm going to Chennai for 17days on 3rd October, I'm going for work but will have about 5 days off while I'm there - does anyone have any recommendations of any sightseeing/activities etc

Also, how much spending money should I take? All food/accomodation/travel is paid for by work (we also get a daily allowance of 1600 rupees (about �20) for tips etc), so any money I take is just for other expences/shopping etc!

Asain people are very hospitable and will probably be happy to show you around, sorry didnt read this posting before. Plenty of ATM machines everywhere if you need more funds. Change some money at the airport to tip taxis, porters etc.You can change some at UK airports, they tell you its illegal to comply with regulations and then give you the currency !
always tip the "little man" eg porters, bell boys etc they earn such a pittance and take it straight home to help their families.Try the rickshaws instead of taxis, they are great fun.
