sorry should have said its only a short flight over to france.
Highly unlikely she would be allowed to take food on board in the current climate. Best to contact the airline direct.
Oh of course you can take food on board. Its only liquids that is a problem. I took food on board only last week!
Question Author
just checked and the terms and conditions stated no hot beverages are allowed on board, nothing about food.

thats what i thought, just couldnt remember!
my daughter is an air hostess so i'll ask her
gina32-they dont like being called air hostesses! Call her flight attendant instead.
My friend always takes her own sandwiches on Ryanair, without any problems. (Personally, I don't mind paying for food on board. I'm usually only paying 1p for the flight, so I feel obliged to provide them with a bit of profit!).

As has been stated, the EU security restrictions only apply to liquids. For details, see here:

at Jet2's Newcastle check-in desk there is (or was back in July) a notice informing passengers that if they tried carrying on their own food it would be confiscated. In practice several passengers did carry their own food on board and the flight crew ignored them.

I have no idea of the time involved so I will ask: do you really have time to get hungry flying from England to France?

Ok, radio, I get it. To them, the planning is all part of their mini-adventure. Hope they have a great time.
