Dress code in sri lanka

Does anybody know if there is a dress code for men in
hotels in sri lanka,(trousers for evening meal etc)

Depends entirely on the class of hotel, and where you're dining, as you'd expect. If you're in a five-star hotel and in their poshest restaurant, it could be pretty formal, but if you're just popping into their burger coffee shop, shorts would be fine.
Many of the smaller hotels no longer have a dress code, but remember, trousers and long sleeved shirts after sunset do help prevent mosquito bites!
