Want to take my mum, mother in law and OH to New York for a long weekend at the beginning of next year, as their Christmas pressy.. I have been told that the New York Helmsley, The Roosevelt and Thirty Thirty are good hotels and very close to tourist attractions.

Has anyone stayed in them and have an opinion. Or maybe another hotel you could suggest.

Looking at going end of Jan/beginning of Feb.

Cheers in advance

Depends how much you want to spend, but my friend and I were impressed with the Milford Plaza. Just one block from Times Square and very hot on making sure that they see your rooms cards before you enter the lift area so you felt very safe. I have also stayed in the Pennsylvania and was not as impressed with this hotel.

Make sure you are checking the right Helmsley. The one on 48th Street was rubbish and I had something stolen from my luggage.
We stayed at the Wolcott (http://www.wolcott.com).

It wasn't anything special, old fashioned etc but it was clean and comfortable and central. Also it was cheap and had a complimentary breakfast which was handy!
I stayed at a nice little family hotel on east 32nd street between Park and Madison if you want to google it
I stayed at the Thirty Thirty ~ it was pretty good..clean and tidy, and as it is mid town it is close enough to main attractions.

We walked EVERYWHERE and are glad we did, although it was in the summer!
Try hotels.com and look for hotels in midtown Manhattan. On that web site you can see all of the photos and read reviews etc.
We stayed at the Marriot Marquis on Times Sq its the hotel where Arni rode the white horse through in the True Lies movie, just great there and ask for a room with a view of Broadway, magic just like the movies. Before that we stayed at the Dorral Court which was very nice and friendly.
Have a great time.
