Dead easy. There are usually two direct trains per hour, from Pisa Centrale to Firenze Rifredi, with journey times ranging from 58 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes.

The best journey planner, for all European rail travel, is the website of the German railways, Deutsche Bahn:

The Trenitalia website seems to have ironed out some of it's many problems recently. If you want to try it, it's here:

Italian rail services are generally very cheap (by UK standards). If you want to pre-book, try Trenitalia's UK partner, here:

well thanks for that will check it out
The main railway station in Florence is Maria Novella which is very central and from where all the hotels and main attractions are immediately accesible.
Trains from Pisa Airport are fairly frequent (except during the night) but be aware that some are direct into Florence whlist others require you to change at Pisa Central, which is only five minutes after you depart from the airport. Having changed you can then travel into Florence central as above.
The process of changing trains at Pisa Central can be fraught as it involves subways, staircases and correctly identifying which is the platform you want.
There are usually a lot of travellers from the UK and everyone helps everyone else sort things out, so don't be dismayed or put off.
I have done this trip many times and always find it a pleasant experience, and of course awaiting you at the end of it is Florence itself!
If you are thinking in terms of a daytrip then hiring a car might be worth considering, unless alone it can work out no dearer or even cheaper. I have done this and had no problems - a oneway trip might rule this option out.
