Been there once. Didn't see any... but then I didn't go looking, as I have an extreme phobia of them..! I believe there are certainly many species of tropical spiders over there, at least in the jungles, but as a "standard" tourist you tend not to see many of them unless your choice of accomodation is very poor. The mainly Japanese-owned hotels are ultra-clean. But the paddy-field rats...!! Ahh... Now that's a different matter..!! :o)
