weather in South America

We are going on a cruise to Peru and Chile via the anama canal.Can anyone tell me what the weather will be like in late October/early November please.the farthest south we are travelling is to Santiago but we hope to take a couple of excursions inland as well as seeing the coastal strip.Do we ned to take winter coats with us please?

It will be summertime in Santiago - eg Oct 21st 2006 had a high of 80 degrees

If you go to the wunderground site you can put in any city name & look at what the temperature was last year (and previous years) on the dates you will be there.
