I would like to go snowboarding in April 2007 to somewhere like France or Austria but have been told that there is not enough snow in April.

Does anybody know if this is correct and if not (hopefully) are there any places that would be ideal for that time of year?

some years the snow stays good until the end of april, other years it can be past its best as early as february.

to be more sure of snow at the end of the season you need to choose a "high" resort, eg Deux Alpes, Tignes, etc.
Like mushroom said try go for the higher resorts.
