I've just heard a radio bulletin which stated that ailines pay NO TAX whatsoever on their fuel!
Surely that can't be right, or is it?
If it is true then how does that square with the arguement that higher taxes for road fuel will help to save the planet?

You heard right, they don't pay tax on fuel. They don't pay any tax on emmissions either. The green lobby is hopping mad about this, and the EU is looking into whether taxes should be imposed. Of course, the airlines are hopping mad about that.
