Thinking of buying in Bulgaria - has anyone had experience of the buying process? Is it easy or is it a nightmare? Property is reasonable, however, I am unsure of the stability of the country - can anyone advise? If so, where is the best place to buy and what are the cost of flights to get there?

No experience myself, but there is a property programme about a bloke buying in Bulgaria tonight, i think its on at 8pm, not sure what channel.
Hi I run a website with plenty of differnet Bulgarian Property Agents listing on it - have a look at http://www.globalhideaway.com/GHC-14-Bulgarian _Property.htm

My advice is have a shop around and see what you can get with your money, and don't necessarily go with the first agent you speak to. As far as prospects go, Bulgaria is in line for entry to the EU soon, so I would expect good return on your investment as infrastructure improves and tourism increases. Plus I would have a good read about it on the web, there are loads of good articles on sites like Assetz
Hi,

If you can, get hold of a copy of the Money (or maybe Home) section in last Sunday's (16/7) Sunday Times - there was a whole section all about Bulgarian property.

Much of the article emphasised that lots of Brits have bought cheap apartments with offers of "guaranteed" rental income to cover the mortgage. Due to massive over-supply, the rental is anything but guaranteed and people are struggling to rent them out at all. Also, many areas are like a building site due to a huge construction push.

My answer assumes you are doing this as a holiday home/buy to let rather than a permanent residence, of course.
Further to the last post read this http://www.opp.org.uk/opp_news/july_2006/Agent s_come_off_worse_in_Sunday_Times_%27expos%E9%2 7_of_Bulgaria.htm

It explains how developers and agents are over promising on rental returns.
