Have you heard of TNT magazine? It's a free magazine that comes out every Monday.

The magazines main readers are aussies/kiwi's and south african's living in london and usually has quite a few pages full of bargain flights/packages etc.

They also publish a free guide for travelling around Australia/New Zealand. From memory they only publish it once a year but you may be able to request a copy.

They have a website too www.tntmagazine.com which I haven't really had a good look around but may be helpful.

Good luck & enjoy the trip!

Thailand! Check it out first, but if you get a single to Thailand (the airlines hate it and make you sign an indemnity) you can pick up a round the world ticket a lot cheaper that from the UK. Also consider Jakarta as a starting point - Garuda used to issue dirt cheap tickets that are not flexible but that are valid on pre-named other carriers
I did it with Trailfinders and flew to Bangkok - i reckon that's a really good starting point, and the prices were good too!
