Assuming you are UK based...you shouldn't do, unless you are staying out in the boondocks (Llama Island and the like).

One of the legacies of colonialism is that they use the same sort of plugs. Some appliances are still sold with 2 pin plugs (illegal though I think) which can be used in a 3 pin socket through the opurchase of a cheap plastic adaptor which fakes the presence of the earth pin.
