Hi, I was hoping to go to Thailand later this year (first time) but my partner now needs to be back by end of Oct - I'm pretty sure this is still the rainy season, anyone been at that time of year? Otherwise just looking for any other ideas of somewhere in Asia at that time of year??!!! I have never been very far east and I liked the idea of Thailand.

Thailand is great at any time of the year. I have been in October and it is the end of the rainy season. However it is always hot and if it rains it only rains for about for 1hour maximum. Don't spend more than 3 or 4 days in Bangkok. Pattaya is the fun place to go for Beach,Sports and Entertainment. You will both have a great time

It might rain for a lot longer than one hour a day (some days it can be all day, some days not at all).

Pattaya is the fun place to go for the seedier side of life. Krabi or Hua Hin are far more civilised, all depends what you want.

The North of Asia is starting to get quite cold in October, closer to the Equator is fairly damp. Have a play around with the BBC weather average conditions, but remember they are only averages!

I've been to Thailand a few times and the weather is pretty much down to luck. The first time I went in the dry season it rained for 10 out of 14 days. I've also been in September and had brilliant weather. Remember that rainy weather in Thailand is not like rain in UK. For a start if your in Ko Samui, Krabi or Phuket it will still be 28c at least so you will still be warm. Go for it, you'll have a great time!!
